Hamilton Girls Basketball Falls in Emotional Loss

This Friday the Hamilton girls basketball team took on Thornapple-Kellogg at TK.

The Hawkeyes fell 41-29 in an emotional filled night just two days removed from the tragic loss of beloved teacher, Josh Hoppe. The team wore blue headbands in honor of Hoppe’s love for the Detroit Lions and the student section wore blue as well to support Hoppe.

The community supported the basketball team well tonight with over 100 students riding to Middleville on buses.

It was a great effort by the lady hawks who went on a fourth quarter run and got the lead all the way down to seven before TK closed the door late. Hamilton was led by all-time leading scorer, Ashley Overbeek, who had 14 points on the night.

Hamilton’s next game will be on Tuesday night in a varsity boys and girls doubleheader at home.
