Hamilton Girls Down Allegan in First Home Game of the Year

This Tuesday the Hamilton girls basketball team took on the Allegan Tigers at home.

Hamilton opened up the game with a 7-0 run, that they would never give up with the Tigers not scoring until 5 minutes into the game. The Hawkeyes lead 11-4 at the end of the first quarter with Courtney VandeVorde hitting a lay up as time expired.

It took a while for Hamilton to score again in the second quarter, but Hamilton finally scored thanks to a 3 pointer from freshman Brooklyn Groenheide, 10 seconds later Ashley Overbeek knocked down a lay up. Hamilton led 20-12 at the half.

The second half started with seven straight points from Rachael Tolsma and Hamilton would not look back from there on out. The fourth quarter was all Ashley Overbeek who had a big three pointer and later sealed the 45-34 Hamilton victory with her 5 free throws to end the game. Ashley Overbeek lead Hamilton with 16 points, well Rachael Tolsma adding 11.

The girls next game will be played this Friday at home against Hopkins.
