OK Green Hamilton Boys Basketball Outlook

The Hamilton boys basketball team will enter the 2014 OK Green conference schedule this Tuesday, with their first conference match against the Byron Center Bulldogs. The Hawkeyes finished last year with a 11-11 record on the season, but made a coaching change, by hiring Brant Haverdink as their new head coach.

Hamilton started out the year with a 3-0 record, but have struggled of late with back to back losses against Wayland and Grand Rapids Catholic Central.

Going into conference play, Hamilton will take on teams like the 6-0 Holland Dutch, who are led by star point guard Dante Hawkins and 6 foot 10 center, Kyle Bartholomew.

The Hawkeyes will also take on arch-rival Holland Christian who will take a 3-2 record into conference play with both of their losses coming to top ranked teams including South Christian. HC will also get lots of production from senior 6 foot 5 forward, Kyle Steigenga who earned All-State Honorable Mention after last season.

Byron Center, who is Hamilton’s first conference opponent of the year, has a 2-3 record going into the game. The bulldogs will be led by Travis Baker who has scored in double-digits in most of their games this year. Byron Center should be a great match-up with the Hawkeyes who are led by forward Grant Wolfram and guard Elijah Walker.
