Coach: Kevin Spotts

Last Season’s Record:4-1, 2nd in our conference

Key Returning Starters: Matt Miller, Trey DeVries

As we head into spring sports season, Coach Spotts looks to build off of last season’s success, and continue to be competitive. “We’re not happy unless we’re 1st or 2nd in our conference.” Trey DeVries, who runs the mile and 4 by 8 relay also says his focus is for the team to be competitive again this year. Weather also affected the team last season, according to Trey. Trey Runs the Mile in 4:51

Matt Miller is also a key returner. Matt runs the 400 and 800 meter, and says he sees his team doing well and most likely reaching 1st or second in the OK Green this year. Standing in their way is Zeeland West and Byron Center, who are the toughest competitors in our division. Matt runs the 400 in 51:50 and the 800 in 2:06

With many of their key competitors gone after graduating last year, both Trey and Coach Spotts agree that the area they need to work on this year is sprinting. Brady Zommer and Justin Kingdom were two of the team’s best sprinters, but they have graduated, which leaves room for improvement in sprinting. Of the key returning sprinters is Nate Pando.
