Last year: 4th place finish in the OK Green

Head Coach: Kevin Arnold in his 11th Season

Key returners: Nick Carlson, Justin Folkert, Anthony Guillozet

Key departures: Adam Reed

The Hamilton golf team is looking forward to a great season, lead by two-time All-State golfer Nick Carlson. The Hawkeyes also bring back key golfers Anthony Guillozet, senior, and junior Justin Folkert. As the Hawkeyes hit the course this year they are looking at a possible OK Green conference championship, according to coach Kevin Arnold, who also notes that his team just “needs to play to their capabilities this spring.” Coach Arnold is very anxious for the season the start, as some of his better golfers aren’t playing this year for various reasons. On the flip side Arnold is confident that he had the talent to do just that, citing that he is hopeful that “a freshmen or two will help out [on varsity this year].”

It’s impossible to talk Hamilton golf without talking about Nick Carlson and his back to back All-State pterformances. As we look toward another season of golf, we took the time to ask Coach Kevin Arnold, who also serves as the golf-pro at the Diamond Springs Golf Course, just how good Nick could be this year. “Nick has great work ethic, and his knowledge of golf sets him apart and this gives [him] a great chance to be this year’s Michigan Mr Golf!” This year’s key for Nick is not to dwell on the past and focus on being his best.

The Hawkeyes kick off the season on March 26th with back to back home meets at Diamond Springs, before hitting a long stretch of road competitions. The season comes to a close with the state championships in mid June at MSU Forest Akers West.
