In Cross Country Action the Hawkeyes continue to roll through the season. On Wednesday the Hawkeyes took on Byron Center at Unity Christian. Unity Christian’s Cross Country course is the hardest in the conference with numerous steep hills. The boys team won big, 40-19 over the Bulldogs. The Hawkeyes were lead by Mark Freyhof with a first place finish and a time of 17:50. Matt Field, Caleb Topp, Andrew Fathman, and Gerald Defouw all ran fast times despite the slow course. The boys improve to 2-0 in conference action.

The girls team also won, but in a much closer battle 32-23. Erika Freyhof lead the team with a first place finish with a time of 20:01. Audrey Freyhof finished third with a time of 22:14, The girls remain undefeated moving to 2-0 in dual meets this season.

The Hawkeyes are back in action on Saturday at Calvin College for the Cougar-Falcon Invitational. This is the first fast course of the season, so it will be a true test of just how fast the Hawkeyes are and where they are in terms of state standings.
