The Hamilton girl’s swim team continued its’ winning streak Tuesday night against Wayland, as they beat the Warriors 109-72. Hamilton was well on their way to winning early, as they won the first three events and didn’t slow down from there. Hamilton placed first in every event, with stellar performances from Paige Kuhn, Rileigh Eding, and Stephanie Johnston, who all won 2 individual events. Johnston and Eding also led the Hawkeyes to two first place finishes in the 200 yard medley relay and 400 yard freestyle relay.
Coach Talsma was proud of the way his girls swam saying, “A very solid meet in the midst of very tough training.” He also went along to say, “There were not many close races, but the girls did a good job of pushing themselves.” The girls also had some best times for the season and even some lifetime bests. When asked how the level of competition affected the girls, Talsma replied, “Our goal was to practice racing at a higher level than we have previously whether or not there was someone to race against or not.” The Hawkeyes hope to continue their success against a tough Grand Haven opponent tonight.
