by: Ben Koopman

On Wednesday the Hamilton and Holland Christian Cross Country teams faced off at Johnson Park in Wyoming. The meet was the closest one of the season for the boys, but they still came up with win, 27-30. The boys were lead by Mark Freyhof with a time of 17:10(1st), followed by Caleb Topp (5th), Matt Field (6th), Elliot Klingenberg (7th), and Gerald DeFouw finishing eighth.

On the girls side it was another close meet, but the girls were also able to pull out the 24-31 victory. Erika Freyhof lead the charge finishing first with a time of 19:29. Jennica Schaffer ran well finishing fourth, followed by Audrey Freyhof and Hope Fathman at fifth and sixth. Melinda Overbeek also finished eighth. Holland Christian is the defending champions of the OK Green and are the Hawkeyes toughest competition this year; with the win, we expect the Hawkeyes to cruise to a conference championship this season.
