Hawkeyes Defeat Dux in Volleyball

By: Madi Alexander and Chandler Timmer

On Tuesday night, the Hamilton volleyball team defeated Zeeland West to continue their perfect record in the OK Green conference. The 25-20, 25-19, 17-25, 25-10 victory moved their record to 18-4-3 and 2-0. The Hawkeyes played close matches, but managed to pull away in the first two games. In the third, Zeeland West came out strong and beat Hamilton pretty easily. The Hawkeyes responded very well and finished off the night by dominating in the last game. “I think we needed to get beat by that team in order to really step up and play, because our first three games were not how we usually play,” Hamilton coach Abby Ekkens said. Since they got beat in one game, it motivated them to step up and finish off the match. Carrying the team was Jordan Pikaart with 28 kills, Destiny Alexander with 37 assists, and Erin Meiste with 8 digs. Overall, it was a great night for Hamilton volleyball.
