By Matt Oonk

The girls swim and dive team traveled to the Holland Aquatic Center this weekend to compete against the top teams in the state in a mid-season invitational. Many swimmers stepped up big against very tough competition, which helped surge Hamilton to a 5th place finish. Stephanie Johnston continued her winning ways, winning both the 50 and 100 yard freestyle, with times of 24.43 and 53.54 respectively. She broke her own meet record in the 50. Rileigh Eding also swam well, coming in second in the 200 yard freestyle and breaking her own varsity record in the process. She also placed second in the 100 yard back. Hamilton was also helped by some great diving from Mikayla VanFleeren, who placed second with 337.5 points. Eding, Johnston, Kaitlyn Meiste, and Paige Kuhn swam the 200 yard freestyle relay to a second place finish, and placed fourth in the 400 yard freestlye relay. Kuhn also had a big swim in the 500 yard freestyle, finishing 8th midst some very tough competition.

Hamilton looks to continue their strong season and make a push towards the state meet in November.
