On Tuesday, the Hamilton volleyball team swept Holland 25-15, 25-10, 25-7. What started as a close first set quickly became a crushing blow to the Dutch. Coach Abby Ekkens said, “Once we stopped making errors, we quickly took over the game. Then we dominated the rest of the match because we outplayed them.” After the Hawkeyes cleaned up the serves into the net and somewhat of a sloppy start, it was all Hamilton. Each of the next two games started with 5 and 6 point runs respectively to help the Hawkeyes pull away. Some key players carrying the Hawkeyes to victory were; Destiny Alexander with 30 assists, Jordan Pikaart with 20 kills, and Courtney Vandevorde with 12 kills. With the victory, it brings Hamilton’s overall record to 20-4-3 and 4-0 in conference play. Their next match is against another undefeated team, the Byron Center Bulldogs. The winner claims an early lead for first place in the OK Green Conference.
