HAMILTON, Mich. – On Wednesday Hamilton hosted a wrestling quad with the likes of Thornapple Kellogg, Comstock Park and Coopersville attending. The Hawkeyes were victorious over both Coopersville, 64-18, and Comstock Park 45-33. Hamilton came back from behind against the Panthers of Comstock Park, winning the last 4 matches of the meet to seal-the-deal for the Hawkeyes. Thornapple Kellogg also went 2-0 at the meet.
Trenton Holyfield won his matches moving him to 99 in his career. Against Comstock Park Holyfield wrestled up a class against #10 ranked Austin Tyler and Trenton dominated by a score of 20-4. “It wasn’t even close,” said fellow wrestler Jake Kessler, “he was in control the whole time.”
Coach Gregg Stoel says, “being good is not an accident,” and Trenton puts in work year round with the best wrestlers in the area. If Trenton is able to make it into the 100 win club he will be the 36th wrestler to do so in Hamilton history. Look for Trenton to reach the 100 win milestone on Saturday for the Zeeland West Invitational.
Hamilton’s first year guys looked good, and will have to continue to in prove to help the team have a successful year.
