JENISON, Mich. – On Tuesday the Hamilton Girls Basketball team tipped off the new season with a double digit victory over the Wildcats of Jenison. The team played well, with Courtney Vande Voorde led the way for the Hawkeyes with a career high 22 points and 11 rebounds. Abi Edigar and Kendra Bott also chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively. Coach VanHekken was proud of the “balanced scoring with almost 5 players in double figures.”

The highlight of the game for Courtney Vande Voorde was how the team “worked together well and stayed mentally strong when Jenison started to rally.”

One of the key statistics from the game was that Hamilton shot twice as many free throws, making 16 of their 22. Coach Dan VanHekken was also very pleased with the way his team rebounded; the Hawkeyes dominated the boards, out rebounding the Wildcats 34-22.

The Hawkeyes are back in action Friday, hosting the Trojans of  Thornapple Kellogg at 7:00pm.
