HAMILTON, Mich. – The Hamilton boys swim team was victorious over the Holland Christian Maroons finishing with a final score of 105-79. Leaders of the team being Alec Nyboer taking first place in the 50 yard free and the 100 yard backstroke. Austin Fogerty won the 200 yard free, Matt Oonk in the 100 yard free, and Adam Everse in the 100 yard breast stroke. The Hawkeyes were also victorious in the 400 yard free relay, 200 yard free relay, and the 20 yard medley relay. Coach Talsma comments on the Hamilton swimmer’s performance, “we swam pretty well as a whole and we’re working on putting things that we do in training into our races.”

The team has been working a lot on keeping each other accountable in practice and cheering each other on during the meets to keep the positive energy moving. “Encouraging each other and keeping everyone motivated was a big thing in becoming victorious,” says swimmer Ryan Underwood. The team has been working on having practice always be at the speed of races and making the atmosphere similar. The Hawkeyes have been improving because of it and will hopefully bring more victories as the season progresses. The swim team is back in action on February third at 6:00 hosting Zeeland.
