By: Abigail Snay

HASTINGS, Mich. – The Hamilton competitive cheer team went to Hastings on Wednesday, January 7. They competed against teams in the OK Green/Gold conference with Holland Christian, Zeeland West, Byron Center, Catholic Central, Hastings, Ottawa Hills, Thornapple-Kellogg, and Wayland. Hamilton placed 5th out of 9 teams with a score of 619 points. Junior Marissa Dowker said, “We may have not done as well as we wanted to but with the conditions of our girls hurting and switching in and out we did our best, and as always we hope for improvement.” The team had to make last minute switches because of injury which was stressful for the team. Marissa also said that, as usual, they did the best in round three which is the stunting round. Sophomore KT Manifold said, “With new people in new rounds we did really well, but we weren’t on our a-game” but she also said that the new cheerleaders having the experience of their first conference meet was a good thing.

Hamilton’s next competitive cheer competition is on Wednesday, January 10 at Zeeland West.
