Hamilton boys buzzer beater beats Holland

HAMILTON, Mich.- The Hamilton boys basketball team hosted the Holland Dutch at home last Wednesday taking a win in a close matchup 55-53. The game started out intense with both teams showing tremendous defense right off the bat. Holland took the lead in the first quarter with the score of 14-13. In the second quarter the Hamilton boys picked up their offensive game scoring another 15 points. The Hawkeyes had the lead into the half, 28-25. At the start of the third, Evan Woodke and Colton Becksvoort both got a quick 5 points to set the pressure on Holland. Hollands Demetrius Lake took that pressure and used it as motivation scoring his team 11 points in the third quarter. Holland regained the lead at the end of the third with just a point, putting Hamilton into the fourth quarter with a score of 41-40. In the fourth quarter Hamilton used great teamwork, passing the ball all around, tiring out Holland and getting a total of 15 points. Hollands Demetrius Lake turned up the tempo making a 3 pointer with 14 seconds left tying the game 53-53. Hamilton’s guard Evan Woodke got the ball and with 2.5 seconds left sinked a 2 pointer winning the game for Hamilton 55-53.

Player Colton Becksvoort lead the team throughout the game scoring a total of 22 points and seven rebounds. Evan Woodke got a total of 10 and had the game winning shot for the Hawkeye boys. This game brings the boys to a record of 11-6 and 5-4 in the OK green. The Hawkeye boys are visiting Byron Center next tonight, hoping for another win.
