Hamilton pulls out win over Coppersville

On Wednesday night the 12-7 Hamilton Hawkeyes defeated the Coopersville Broncos 71-65. The game was close the whole way, but this is nothing that Hamilton is unfamiliar with. The Hawkeyes were able to maintain a lead for the large majority of the night, large part in thanks to senior Evan Woodke who lead the Hawkeyes in scoring with 25 points.

“We did a great job of taking care of the ball late in the game, where other times we have turned it over late, and that hurts us,” Senior guard Brady Mudd about the teams ability to hold onto the game late.

The Hawkeyes were only able to rotate eight deep as they have been facing injuries to key players late in the season.

“One of our central messages all year has been that it’s not about what happens to you, but how do you respond to it, we responded with tremendous energy,” Coach Haverdink said.

The Hawkeyes will play Kellogsville tonight for Senior night and will play Unity Christian next week in the first round of districts.
