The Hamilton boys basketball team celebrated senior night this Thursday with a 76-54 point win over Kellogsville. Hamilton moved to 13-7 on the season making this the most successful since the 1996-1997 season. This Hamilton team features eight seniors all of whom have had a impact on this season.
“I’ve coached those guys for 60 some games and having those kids as JV players and know as varsity players, their competitiveness and watching their growth and how they have responded to adversity, how they’ve learned to handle what they can control, too have traveled this long of a journey with a group of kids is a special opportunity,” Coach Haverdink said.
Haverdink was the JV coach when this group of seniors were sophomores and moved with them to varsity when he was named the head coach.
“I hope that we set a new tone and a new devotion to Hamilton basketball with how we play, and how hard we played,” Senior forward Scott Scholten said.
Well this may be the last home regular season game for the Hawkeye seniors their still is a goal to play a home game one more time this year. If Hamilton can get through the district rounds of the state playoffs the regionals will be held at Hamilton, giving the seniors one last chance to play in front of their home crowd.
