Boys Tennis falls to the Allegan Tigers

By: Alec Overbeek

HAMILTON, Mich.- As the Hamilton Hawkeyes took on the Allegan Tigers on September 17th, things didn’t go the way Hamilton had hoped. Allegan took every single match from Hamilton defeating them 8-0.

Hamilton’s fourth singles player, Zach Smith, and third singles player, Christian DiCesare, gave them the best run for their money. Zach Smith took Allegans Kody Harrington through 3 sets, losing the first one, winning the second, and losing the last one 6-0.

Christian DiCesare battled against Allegans Alex Babbitt and in the first set took him into an intense 7 point tie breaker. Through constant battling from back to back points, Babbitt took the set beating DiCesare 7-4.

Christian DiCesare explains further on his match, “I feel like we were pretty even with each other, I am 1-1 in my career against him (Babbit), so the odds were pretty even for who would be victorious.”

The Hawkeyes will look past this tough defeat and make this a learning experience for their matches ahead. Their next match will be against the Holland Christian Maroons, which have the Division 3 number one singles player in the state, J.P. Avila, on September, 23.
