HAMILTON, MICH- Hamilton football hosted the Falcons of Allendale this past Friday. The Hawkeyes weren’t able to pull out a win in their first home game of the season. The team is continuing to struggle this season as they are 1-3 up to this point.
The defense allowed Allendale to jump out to an early lead by letting them score 21 points in just the first quarter. After a rough first quarter, the game did not get much better as they let up another 3 touchdowns in the second half of the game.
Although the running game was fairly successful, the passing offense has been much better in the past. Quarterback Keaton Mudd threw a total of 5 interceptions throughout the game with only 112 yards passing and one rushing touchdown. The team had a total of 69 plays and if they want to improve on this season, they need to make the most of every play and limit their turnovers. Running Back Tyler Geurink was much more successful in the game as he rushed for over 100 yards on just 15 carries.
The team’s next outing will be this Friday against the Dux of Zeeland West. As in the past, the Dux are a very impressive football team this year and the Hawkeyes are really going to need to step up their game for what will be one of the toughest games of the season. The way the defense is playing right now just won’t cut it against the impressive Wing-T offense of the Dux.
