HAMILTON, Mich- The Hamilton Varsity Girls Volleyball team participated in a quad on Wednesday September 9. The participants were Cedar Springs, Grand Haven, and Reeths Puffer. The lady Hawkeyes were victorious in the match against Reeths Puffer, but unfortunately dropped their games against Cedar Springs and Grand Haven.

Stat leaders included Britney Vandewege with 14 assists, and Nicole Dekker and Joslyn Bronkhorst both with nine kills. “The girls played amazing and really found their groove. The girls really played as one unit tonight and that was really fun to see.” comments Coach MaKenzie Branderhorst on the team’s performance.

The volleyball team has a promising future if they continue to work hard in their season. This years team is on the younger side of the spectrum with sophomores Britney Vandewege and Taylor Mcillwain as well as 7 juniors outnumber the four seniors on the team. Although younger usually means inexperienced, there have been contributions from all of the girls on the team. Mcillwain had four aces in the last quad, along with junior Nicole Dekker with 9 blocks and senior Frannie Prins with 6 digs.

Come support the volleyball team at their next home game on Tuesday September 22nd at 6:00.
