By Daria Wedeven

VICKSBURG, Mich. – Tuesday, October 27 the Hamilton Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Vicksburg for a round robin tournament. The team split a match with Portage Northern with a score of 25-17 and 21-25. Unfortunately, the girls were unable to take home a win against the rest of the teams at the tournament.

A few star players from the night were Nicole Dekker with 6.5 blocks, Frannie Prins with 40 digs and Britney VandeWege with 47 assists, 19 digs, and 7 aces.

“We started off pretty strong, but as the night went on we started to get wore out when the other teams didn’t,” says junior Nicole Dekker.

The girls are now preparing for their first district game on Monday, November 2. “Our first match is against Unity, which we have seen 4 times this season, and have beaten them once.” Coach Kenzie states, “they are a conference rival and we finished tied for fourth with them, so it should be a close match.”

The team will be preparing from now until the day of the game by watching film and are practicing hard while focusing on what they have ahead. Come out and support the team at 5:45 at the Allendale High School.
