Varsity Volleyball shutout in Byron Center Tournament

On Saturday, October 3, the Hamilton Varsity Volleyball team struggled in their tournament with South Christian, Grandville, Whitehall, and Otsego, losing to all of the teams. Although it was a rough day, the team fought hard. Leading players were,  Nicole Dekker with 10 kills and 6 blocks, Joslyn Bronkhorst with 6 kills and 5 digs, Frannie Prins with 38 digs and 2 aces, and Britney VandeWege with 22 assists, 2 aces and 8 digs.

Junior Aly Dyke says, “we just didn’t play together, and struggled to keep our heads in the game when we got frustrated. We couldn’t stop runs once the opponents got going.”

The Hamilton Volleyball team had a hard time receiving the serve and the offensive side of things was not their strong point. Although, Coach Branderhorst thought the girls performed well defensively, “Our defense played phenomenally, we had a lot of touches on balls that we don’t normally get, so once we get everything put together, we will be in a better position to win games and we look forward to working on that at our home game Tuesday.”

The team will face Zeeland West on Tuesday and are hoping that their performance will be better. “I’m hoping that everyone will channel that frustration from Saturday into motivation to win on Tuesday,” says senior Frannie Prins.

Come and encourage the team on Tuesday, October 6 at home against the Zeeland Dux.
