Swim Team Pulls Off Victory Over Holland

HOLLAND, Mich – Diving into the pool on Tuesday night the boys swim team celebrated a close victory over Holland in the last event, 94-91. The boys had some new swimmers step up and help the team when they needed it most.

The boys pushed hard in their individual events and in their relays, only making a few mistakes but doing well as a whole team. Alec Nyboer made a state time in the 100 yard backstroke. Also all three relays made state qualifying times.

We made the meet a lot closer than it needed to be with a few mistakes that we made. We were down 3 points going into the last relay,” said Coach Talsma. “However in the end the boys buckled down and raced well when we really needed it.”

Talsma also added that “the best part of the win was our newer swimmers stepping up to pull some of the weight when we needed them most.”

The boys swim next at the MISCA invitational on February 13.
