Softball Falls Short to Unity Christian

HAMILTON, Mich.- The Hawkeye Softball team Lose both of their games to
a tough Unity Christian five to seven and zero to five on a windy
Tuesday evening.

During the first game of the competition, the Hawkeyes softball team
drops to Unity Christian. The Hawkeyes were shutout in the first match
with no runs, Although the Hawkeyes redeemed themselves with an early
lead in the fourth inning with one run. They then added to the score
with four more runs in the fifth and eighth inning.

Even with the early lead, and the total of 5 runs from players: Chloe
DeJonge, Blaire DeWitt, Haley VanHuis, Allyssa VandenBerg, and Liza
Lohman. It was not enough to defeat Unity who racked in 7 runs after
the 5th inning and ending the score five to seven.

Meri Klenk Pitched the whole game for the Hawkeyes and allowed 8 hits
during the whole game. Although the hawkeyes lost their game Coach
Morrison is proud to say- ‘Our goal is always to compete, and I think
we did that.  It has been a long time since we’ve taken Unity to seven
innings. Now we just need to “turn the corner” and start pulling out
wins.  That’s our next big step.” The next game for the Hawkeyes Is at
Unity Christian as they play Unity on their turf.
