Boys Baseball Takes On UC in Double Header

By: Caleb Berens

Hamilton, MICH. – Last Tuesday the Hawkeyes took their home mound against the ‘Saders of Unity Christian in what proved to be an exciting double header…at least for Hamilton.

Going into the 1st game we didn’t have a stellar track record this season but the Hawkeyes have woken up and defeated UC at a whopping 11 to 2. The Hawkeyes definitely set the tone for the game by opening up with a huge six run first inning. Then the game dried up until the Saders fought back with a two run third inning.

After their big third inning the Hawkeyes not only managed to shut them down defensively for the rest of the game but also managed to get a big four runs in the fourth and get 1 run in the 5th and the 6th in a overall very defensive game.

Then the 2nd game came wheeling around. The defensive battle from the 1st game bled into the the next with the end score again favoring Hamilton with a 4-0. Hamilton opened up in the first inning with a run and earned three more in the third. Throughout the game however each team was dead set on stopping the other from scoring with Hamilton actually closing out Unity in their second game.

With Hamilton hauling in two victories in their double header it puts their record at 4-2 and things are looking up.
