WHAT HAPPENED: The Boys Varsity soccer lost to Byron Center

The Boys Varsity Soccer team traveled to Byron Center this passed Monday to play the Bulldogs at 6:45 pm. They didn’t play to their fullest potential against the Bulldogs and the game ended in a 5-0 shutout for Byron Center. After the score was 3-0 the substitutes came in so the starters could rest up for districts.

THEY SAID IT: “Even though we lost we got better as a team,” stated starter Evan Zdzinicki. “We had some good passes shots just wouldn’t connect, to get better we just need to be more focused at practice and have to get better for later competition.”

KEY MOMENT: Junior Riley Hilldore was yellow carded for pushing a Bulldog defender down while trying to fight for the ball. This gave the Bulldogs a free kick which they didn’t end up scoring on.

KEY PLAYERS: Senior Anthony Berarducci played a big role in the Hawkeyes defense. He helped stop the Bulldogs from running up the score, even though they lost he played his best defense. “He had good first touches,” said teammate Evan Zdzinicki.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN: They are 4-11-2 on the season.
